Rest

Seek the Truth with all your heart.

When you acknowledge that you need GOD, you will be enabled to enter into HIS rest.

Rest is not inactivity, it is confidence, trust, and reliance on GOD = resting in GOD.

This will energize you with GOD’s Love, Joy, and Peace.

Hebrews 4:1-13  ‘Therefore, since the promise of entering HIS rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.  Foe we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.  Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as GOD has said,

“So I declared on oath in MY anger, They shall never enter MY rest.”

And yet HIS works have been finished since the creation of the world.  For somewhere HE has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day GOD rested from all HIS works.”  And again in the passage above HE says, “They shall never enter MY rest.”  Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, GOD again set a certain day, calling it “Today.”  This HE did when a long time later HE spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:

“Today, if you hear HIS voice, do not harden your hearts.”

For if Joshua had given them rest, GOD would not have spoken later about another day.  There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of GOD; for anyone who enters GOD’s rest also rests from their works, just as GOD did from HIS.  Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

For the word of GOD is alive and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.  Nothing in all creation is hidden from GOD’s sight.  Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of HIM to WHOM we must give account.’

When you enter rest in GOD, all Jesus’ finished works can manifest in your life.  You will experience true peace - which in Hebrew is ‘Shalom,’  = peace and wholeness in every area of your life.

Exodus 33:14  ‘The LORD replied,  “MY Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Deuteronomy 6:10-12  ‘When the LORD your GOD brings you into the land HE swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you; a land with large flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant; then when you eat and are satisfied, be careful you do not forget the LORD, WHO brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.’

Joshua 24:13  ‘So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’

The greatest expression of faith in GOD is to rest in HIM.

Psalm 29:11  ‘The LORD gives strength to HIS people, the LORD blesses HIS people with peace.’

Psalm 46:10a  “Be still and know that I am GOD.”

Cares - worries - drain you of rest and peace.

Stillness is at the heart - the centre of everything - the eye of the storm.

It is in stillness that we can encounter GOD’s peace, HE is at the centre of everything, even if there is chaos surrounding us.  Everything has a central point, including the wildest storm, cyclone, tornado, or hurricane; a place of perfect stillness, and so it is with any tempestuous situation you find yourself in.  You do not need to frantically search for a place to get away from it, just go within and rest in your own centre of stillness, and just be at peace.  The absolute central point is motionless; and there you can find GOD.

Don’t be thrown around by the waves on the surface of the ocean, go into the deep part where there is calm, the place to find GOD.

This does not stop the storm around you, it is a place where you can be, despite what is happening around you.   Give everything over to GOD and rest in HIM.

Philippians 4:4  ‘Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice.!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to GOD.’

Hebrews 4:1-11  ‘Therefore, since the promise of entering HIS rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.  For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.  Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as GOD has said:

James 4:14-15  ‘Why, you do not even know what will happen to you tomorrow.  What is your life?  You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.  Instead you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
