GOD’s​​ Power &​​ Greatness ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​​​  ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​ ​​​​ ​​ 

Seek the Truth with all your heart. ​​​​ 

 

As scientists probe deeper and further into the universe, they continue to uncover the power of GOD, the greatness of HIS plan for us,​​ for​​ HIS creation,​​ and the incomparable magnitude of HIS gift to those who choose to become HIS children.

GOD possesses the ultimate greatness, but also love and care for the smallest details.​​ 

Joshua 10:12-15 ​​​​ ‘On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”​​ 

So, the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar.​​ 

The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.​​ ​​ There has never been a day like it did before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. ​​ Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel. ​​ Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.’

1 Chronicles 29:10-13 ​​​​ ‘David praised the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly, saying:​​ 

“Praise be to YOU, LORD, the GOD of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. ​​ Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and Earth is YOUR’S.​​ YOUR’S, LORD, is the kingdom; YOU are exalted as head over all. ​​ Wealth and honour come from YOU; YOU are the ruler of all things. ​​ In YOUR hands are​​ strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our GOD, we give YOU thanks, and praise YOUR GLORIOUS NAME.”

Nehemiah 8:10b ​​​​ ‘This day is holy to our LORD, Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Job 26:6-14 ​​​​ Death is​​ naked before GOD; destruction lies​​ uncovered.​​ 

HE spreads out the northern skies, over empty space; HE suspends the Earth over nothing. ​​ HE wraps up the waters in HIS clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight. ​​ HE covers the face of the full moon, spreading HIS clouds over it. HE marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness. ​​  ​​​​ The pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at HIS rebuke. ​​ By HIS power HE churned up the sea; by HIS wisdom HE cut Rehab to pieces. ​​ By HIS breath the skies became fair; HIS hand pierced the​​ gliding serpent. ​​ And these are but the outer fringe of HIS works; how faint the whisper we hear of HIM. ​​ Who then can understand the thunder of HIS power?”

Job 36:26 ​​​​ ‘How great is GOD; beyond our understanding. ​​ The number of HIS years is past finding out.’

In the book of Job, GOD reveals power and wisdom in HIS overseeing of creation. This book warns us to avoid reducing GOD’s moral rule to easy formulas.

Psalm 9:7-12 ​​​​ ‘The LORD reigns forever; HE has established HIS throne for judgement. ​​ HE rules the world in righteousness and judges the people with equity. ​​ The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. ​​ Those who know YOUR NAME trust in YOU, for YOU, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek YOU. ​​ Sing the praises of the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what HE has done. ​​ For HE WHO avenges blood remembers; HE does not ignore the cries of the afflicted.’

Psalm 19:1-3 ​​​​ ‘The heavens declare the glory of GOD; the skies proclaim the work of HIS hands. ​​ Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. ​​ There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. ​​ Their voice goes out into all the Earth, their words to the ends of the world.’

Psalm 68:35 ​​​​ ‘YOU are awesome O GOD, in YOUR sanctuary; the GOD of Israel gives power and strength to HIS people.’

Psalm 115:3 ​​​​ ‘Our GOD is in heaven; HE does whatever pleases HIM.’

Psalm 147:5-6 ​​​​ ‘Great is our LORD and mighty in power, HIS understanding has no limit. ​​ The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.’

Isaiah 25:6-9 ​​​​ ‘On this mountain the LORD ALOMIGHTY will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine – the best of meats and the finest of wines. ​​ On this mountain HE will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; HE will swallow up death forever. ​​ The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; HE will remove HIS people’s disgrace from all the Earth.  ​​​​ The LORD has spoken.​​ 

In that day they will say, “Surely this is our GOD; ​​ we trusted in HIM, and HE saved us. ​​ This is the LORD, we trusted in HIM; let us rejoice and be glad in HIS salvation.”

Isaiah 46:9-10 ​​​​ ‘Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am GOD, and there is no other; I am GOD, and there is none like ME. ​​ I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. ​​ I say, “MY purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”

Jeremiah 32:17 ​​​​ ‘Ah, Sovereign LORD, YOU have made the heavens and the Earth by YOUR great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for YOU.’

Jeremiah​​ 33:25-26 ​​​​ “This what the LORD says, ‘If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed laws of heaven and Earth , then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and David MY servant and will not choose one of his sons to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. ​​ For I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.’

Daniel 2:21 ​​​​ ‘HE changes times and seasons; HE deposes kings and raises up others. ​​ HE gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.’

Matthew 19:26 ​​​​ ‘Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with GOD all things are possible.”

Luke 1:37 ​​​​ ‘For nothing is impossible with GOD.’

Romans 1:20 ​​​​ ‘For since the creation of the world GOD’s invisible qualities, HIS eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.’

Romans 8:31-32 ​​​​ ‘What then, shall we say in response to this? ​​ If GOD is for us, who can be against us? ​​​​ HE Who did not spare HIS own Son, but gave Him up for us all; how shall HE not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?’

1 Corinthians 2:2-5 ​​​​ “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. ​​ I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. ​​ My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on GOD’s power.”​​ 

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 ​​​​ ‘For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. ​​ The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. ​​ On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. ​​ We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of GOD, and we take captive every thought to make​​ it obedient to Christ. ​​ And we​​ will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.’

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 ​​​​ “Three times I (Paul) pleaded with the Lord​​ to ​​ take it (his problem) away from me. ​​ But He​​ said to me, “My​​ grace is sufficient​​ for you, for My power is made perfect​​ in weakness.” ​​​​ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. ​​ For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Ephesians 3:14-21 ​​​​ “For this reason I kneel before the FATHER, from WHOM every family in heaven and on Earth derives its name. ​​ I pray that out of HIS glorious riches HE​​ may strengthen you with power through HIS Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. ​​ And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the LORD’s holy people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge; that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of GOD.​​ 

Now to HIM (GOD) WHO is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to HIS power that is at work within us, to HIM be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever. ​​ Amen.”

Ephesians 4:2-6 ​​​​ ‘Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. ​​ Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. ​​ There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one GOD and FATHER of all, WHO is over all and through all and in all.’

Philippians 4:13 ​​​​ ‘I can do everything ​​ through HIM WHO gives me strength.’

Hebrews 1:10-12 ​​ ​​​​ ‘HE also says, “In the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the Earth, and the heavens are the work of YOUR hands. They will perish, but YOU remain; they will all wear out like a garment. ​​ YOU will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. ​​ But YOU remain the same, and YOUR years will never end.”

2 Peter 1:3-4 ​​​​ ‘HIS divine power has given us everything we need for a GOD-ly life through our knowledge of HIM WHO called us by HIS OWN glory and goodness. ​​ Through these HE has given us HIS very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.’

GOD can exert HIS great influence through us when we completely surrender ourselves to HIM. ​​ John Wesley stated: ​​ “GOD can do more with one person​​ who has committed themself​​ 100% to HIM, than HE can with a whole army of people who have only committed themselves 99% to HIM.

Only those who​​ are​​ willing​​ to​​ become co-workers with​​ Christ;​​ and say​​ “Lord, all I have and all I am is Yours,”​​ will be acknowledged as sons and daughters of GOD. ​​ All who consecrate​​ themselves,​​ soul, body, and spirit​​ to GOD, will constantly receive a new endowment of physical and mental power as the Holy Spirit puts forth​​ its highest energies​​ to work in their hearts and minds. ​​ GOD’s grace enlarges and multiplies their faculties;​​ and every perfection of the divine nature comes to their assistance in working to save others.

The Holy Spirit enables – empowers such willing people to carry out​​ mightily anointed GOD-ly works.
