GOD

Who is HE & HIS purpose?

Seek the Truth with all your heart.

Questioning GOD’s existence and purpose is both contradictory and oxymoronic. If GOD did not exist, nothing else would exist.

GOD is GOD.  HE is the Sovereign GOD – the Supreme GOD – the only True GOD.

The original real name of GOD is Yahuvah, or YHVH  – YAHVEH,  which contains all the power that called the universe into existence.  GOD’s original and correct name is YHVH which is written 6,828 times in the Hebrew Bible. It was spelt this way without vowels because it was considered to be too holy to pronounce.

The LORD = YHVH  (יְהוָה in Hebrew) is GOD = Elohim.

Our Creator GOD, (Yahveh, Elohim, ElShaddai,) is the GOD of Love,  NOT of war, or killing, or hate.  HE is the Creator and the Life Giver; the Monarch of the Galaxies, Sovereign of the Universe.  GOD does not take away the right of any person to freely choose; HE does not force, impose, offend, or interfere with any person and their personal, independent choice; nor does HE give any person on Earth the right to force their choices or beliefs on anyone else.

GOD created everything through Himself - in the person of Jesus - which sounds an amazing statement, but is true – a mysterious dimension that will only be understood and fully comprehended by all who are eventually in heaven.

GOD’s love, power, goodness, wisdom, and abilities, are beyond imagination.  There is nothing HE does not know, and nothing HE cannot do, HIS wisdom is absolutely complete. It is impossible for HIM to sin, or lie.

GOD knows absolutely everything, past, present, and future, at the same time.  HIS unlimited capacity is far beyond human comprehension.  Human beings trying to comprehend  and reason out GOD’s existence, and abilities, is almost equivalent to asking a flea to describe in detail, every aspect of the world and human society.

GOD possesses the ultimate greatness, but also love and care for the smallest details.

The fullness of GOD and its potential, dwells in every born-again, GOD-loving, obedient, and devoted Christian.  HE fills us with truth, goodness, meaning, and HIS promise of eternal life.

The fullness of the magnificence of GOD, HIS power of creation, creativeness, and creativity of everything in the universe, HIS holiness, love, forgivingness, grace, mercy, caring, sensitivity, kindness, fairness, intelligence, knowledge, power, authority, perfection, greatness, wisdom, principles, qualities, abilities, purposes, imagination, provision, protection, favour, blessings, justice, loyalty, heart, mind, compassion, commitment, patience, gentleness, sensitivity, humility, faithfulness, royalty, conscientiousness, righteousness, sovereignty, majesty, splendour, loyalty, goodness, magnificence, wonderfulness, plans, and more --- are beyond our imagination, and comprehension.

GOD’s sovereignty, means that HE has absolute and ultimate authority.  No one at all has equal or greater authority; nor does anyone have any right at all to assume or presume any human decision to act out a right to change any part of GOD’s Word and principles, or to act on HIS behalf; nor to presume or claim that GOD has given them the right to do so. GOD gave us freedom of choice, but not to dictate.

Do not be ashamed to confess GOD anytime or anywhere.  Be assertively confident, but inoffensively genuine about who, and what, you are, and WHO you stand for.

GOD created a beautifully ordered world that reflects HIS perfection.  The world is now under the bondage of sin and evil, and every person on this planet faces the gaping jaws of uncertainty.  The only antidote to this toxic condition is to draw closer to GOD in Whose presence, uncertainty and anxiety are converted to peace.

Whoever messes with GOD, the Creator, will ultimately suffer the maximum loss.

Exodus 3:14-15  ‘GOD said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.  This is what you are to say to the Israelites:  “I AM has sent me to you.”

GOD also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the GOD of your fathers, the GOD of Abraham, the GOD of Isaac and the GOD of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ “This is MY NAME forever, the NAME you shall call ME from generation to generation.”

Numbers 23:18-20  ‘GOD is not human, that HE should lie, not a human being, that HE should change HIS mind.  Does HE speak and not act.?  Doe HE promise and not fulfil?  I have received a command to bless; HE has blessed, and cannot change it.’

Deuteronomy 33:26-27  ‘There is no one like the GOD of  ‘Jeshurun,’  WHO rides on the heavens to help you, and on the clouds in HIS majesty.  The eternal GOD is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.  HE will drive out your enemy before you, saying, “Destroy him (them)!”

1 Chronicles 16:25-27  ‘For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; HE is to be feared above all gods.  For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendour and majesty are before HIM; strength and joy in HIS dwelling place.’

2 Chronicles 7:3 (last bit)  ‘GOD is good; HIS love endures forever.’

Nehemiah 9:6  ‘You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them.  You gave life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship You.’

Job 9:4-10  ‘HIS (GOD’s) wisdom is profound, HIS power is vast.  Who has resisted HIM and come out unscathed?  HE moves mountains without their knowing it and overturns them in HIS anger.  HE shakes the earth from its place and makes its pillars tremble.  HE speaks to the sun and it does not shine; HE seals off the light of the stars.  HE alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea.  HE is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.  HE performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.’

Job 11:7-9  ‘Can you fathom the mysteries of GOD?  Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?  They are higher than the heavens; what can you do?  They are deeper than the depths of the grave; what can you know?  Their measure is longer than the Earth and wider than the sea.’

Job 37:22-24  ‘Out of the north HE comes in golden splendour; GOD comes in awesome majesty.  The ALMIGHTY is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in HIS justice and great righteousness, HE does not oppress.  Therefore, people revere HIM, for does HE not have regard for all the wise in heart?’

Job 38:4  “Where were you when I laid the Earth’s foundation.?  Tell ME, if you understand.”

Psalm 8:1  ‘LORD, our Lord, how majestic is YOUR NAME in all the Earth.  YOU have set YOUR glory in the heavens.’

Psalm 9:7-10  ‘The LORD reigns forever; HE has established HIS throne for judgement.  HE will judge the world in righteousness; HE will govern the people with justice.  The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.  Those who know YOUR Name will trust in YOU, for YOU, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek YOU.’

People who say that there is no GOD, need to consider:

Psalm 14:1-3   (Repeated in Psalm 53)  ‘The fool says in his heart, “There is no GOD.”They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.   The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek GOD.  All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. Do all these evil-doers know nothing?’

Psalm 19:1  ‘The heavens declare the glory of GOD; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.’

Psalm 19:7-11  ‘The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.  The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.  The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.  The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.  The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever.  The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.  They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.  By them is YOUR servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.’

Psalm 34:9-10b  ‘Fear the LORD you His saints, for those who fear HIM lack nothing.  Those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.’

Psalm 46:10-11  ‘HE says, “Be still, and know that I am GOD; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth.”   The LORD ALMIGHTY is with us; the GOD of Jacob is our fortress.’

Psalm 86:8-13  ‘Among the gods there is none like YOU, O LORD; no deeds can compare with YOURS.  All nations YOU have made will come and worship before YOU, O Lord; they will bring glory to YOUR Name.  For YOU are great and do marvellous deeds; YOU alone are GOD.  Teach me YOUR way, O LORD, and I will walk in YOUR truth; and give me an undivided heart, that I may fear YOUR name.  I will praise YOU, O LORD my GOD, with all my heart; I will glorify YOUR name forever.  For great is YOUR love toward me; and YOU have delivered me from the depths of the grave.’

Psalm 91  Tells us that GOD promises to protect us from earthly dangers, pestilence, famine, earthquakes, calamities, and to guard us in all our ways.

Psalm 94:22 & 95:1-7 & 96:1-6  ‘But the LORD has become my fortress, and my GOD the rock in WHOM I take refuge.’

‘Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before HIM with thanksgiving and extol HIM with music and song.

For the LORD is the great GOD, the great King above all gods.  In HIS hand are the depths of the Earth, and the mountain peaks belong to HIM.  The sea is HIS, for HE made it, and HIS hands formed the dry land.

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel  before the LORD our MAKER; for HE is our GOD and we are the people of HIS pasture, the flock under HIS care.’

Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the Earth.

Sing to the LORD, praise HIS NAME; proclaim HIS salvation day after day.

Declare HIS glory among the nations, HIS marvelous deeds among all peoples.

For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

Splendour and majesty are before HIM; strength and glory are in HIS sanctuary.’

Psalm 100:3  ‘Know that the LORD is GOD.  It is HE WHO made us, and we are HIS; we are HIS people the sheep of HIS pasture.’

Psalm 119:89-91  ‘YOUR word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.  YOUR faithfulness continues through all generations; YOU established the earth, and it endures.  YOUR laws endure to this day, for all things serve YOU.’

Psalm 119:142  ‘YOUR righteousness is everlasting and YOUR law is true.’

Psalm 134:3  ‘May the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion.’

Proverbs 1:7   ‘The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.’

Ecclesiastes 11:5  ‘As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of GOD, the Maker of all things.’

Isaiah 40:25-26  & 28  ‘To whom will you compare ME.?  Or who is MY equal? Says the Holy One.  Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens; Who created all these?  HE WHO  brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each one of them by name.  Because of HIS great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.’‘Do you not know?  Have you not heard.?  The LORD is the everlasting GOD, the Creator of the ends of the Earth.  HE will not grow tired or weary, and HIS understanding no one can fathom.’

Isaiah 45:18-19  ‘For this is what the LORD says – HE WHO created the heavens, HE is GOD; HE WHO fashioned and made the Earth, HE founded it; HE did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited – HE says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek ME in vain.’  I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.’

Isaiah 64:4  ‘Since ancient times no one has heard, no one has perceived, no eye has seen any GOD besides YOU, WHO acts on behalf of those who wait for HIM.’

Jeremiah 33:2-3  ‘This is what the LORD says, HE who has made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it; the LORD is His Name.  “Call to ME and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

Jeremiah 9:24b  “I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.’

GOD is the source of life and light and joy to the universe; and when the life of GOD is in the hearts of people, it will flow out through them to others, in love and blessings.

Romans 1:20  ‘Since the creation of the world GOD’s invisible qualities, HIS eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that human-kind are without excuse.’

Nahum 1:2-3  ‘The LORD is a jealous and avenging GOD; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath.  The LORD takes vengeance on HIS foes and maintains HIS wrath against HIS enemies.  The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished.  His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of HIS feet.’

verse 7  ‘The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble.  HE cares for those who trust in HIM.’

HIS requirements are listed in the Ten Commandments: Exodus 20:3-17;

And the requirement to be ‘Born again.’  John 3:1-21;

New life: 1 Peter 1:3;    1 John 2:29;  3:9;  4:7;  5:1-4 & 18.

The overall requirement is LOVE, and if you have love, and love Jesus and GOD, of course you will keep every commandment, and you will automatically want to do to others what you would want them to do to you.

GOD invites us to receive HIS Love and forgiveness, to love HIM and to have relationship with HIM.

GOD showed HIS love by personally paying our inevitable penalty of DEATH; HE then defeated death so that through Jesus alone, and our making Him Lord of our life, we can be free of what would have been our eventual, unavoidable, non-negotiable, irrevocable destiny of eternal non-existence.

GOD opened the way through Jesus for us to choose and qualify to enter HIS eternal Kingdom, starting now, but eventually, after a temporary death, to have new immortal bodies, and knowledge far, far above and beyond what we now have; followed by eternal life in GOD’S kingdom.

GOD operates by power not by force. HE does not force anyone to follow HIM.  HE invites.  It is then that commandments and conditions apply; just like a marriage.

Martin Luther (well known Theologian & Reformer 1483–1546) said “GOD does more by His word alone than you and I and all the world by our united strength.  GOD lays hold upon the heart and when the heart is taken, all is won.”

Justice and mercy are the foundation of GOD’s law and government.

The GOD of Christianity is the true GOD and Creator of everything, and is the GOD of Love.

GOD always was and always will be. There was never a time that HE did not exist, and there will never be a time when HE will not exist.

Isaiah 26:3-4  ‘YOU will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in YOU.  Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD HIMSELF is the ROCK ETERNAL.’

Isaiah 40:8 & 17  ‘The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our GOD stands forever.’  ‘Before HIM all nations are as nothing; they are regarded by HIM as worthless and less than nothing.’

Isaiah 40:21-31  ‘Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  Has it not been told you from the beginning.?  Have you not understood since the earth was founded?

HE (GOD) sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.  He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. HE brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than HE blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

“To whom will you compare ME.?  Or who is MY equal?”  Says the HOLY ONE.

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?  HE who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each one of them by name.  Because of HIS great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

Why do you not complain, Jacob?  Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my GOD?

‘Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The LORD is the everlasting GOD, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.

HE gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.’

Isaiah 44:6  ‘This is what the LORD says, Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty:  I am the first and the last; apart from ME there is no GOD.  Who then is like ME?  Let him proclaim it.  Let him declare and lay out before ME what has happened since I established MY ancient people, and what is yet to come; yes, let them foretell what will come.  Do not tremble, do not be afraid.  Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago?  You are MY witnesses.  Is there any GOD besides ME?  No, there is no other ROCK; I know not one.’

GOD says; “I AM the eternal I AM.  I always have been and I always will be.  In MY presence you experience Love, Light, Peace, and Joy.  I am intimately involved in all your moments, and I am teaching you to be aware of ME at all times.”

GOD delights in you more than you can imagine.  HE approves of you continuously, for HE sees you cloaked in HIS Light, and arrayed in HIS Righteousness.  There is no condemnation for those who are clothed with HIM.

Many, many people, if they have thought about it at all, see a vast chasm between themselves and GOD; whereas GOD wants them to come into relationship with HIM to the point where there is no separation at all.  Like any meaningful relationship, it is not an occasional thing, nor for a one day a week expression, and for many of those it is not even a full day expression; it is to be an unbroken continuous relationship.

Isaiah 55:8-9 & 11 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” “So is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 61:10-11  ‘I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my GOD.  For HE has clothed in garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.  For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.’

Micah 6:8  The LORD has told us what is good and what He requires of us: To do what is right (act justly), to love mercy and to walk humbly with our GOD.

Walking with GOD means to put GOD first and to live in conformity with His requirements, laws, and will.  Be kind, loving, loyal, and faithful.

Micah 7:18-19  ‘Who is a GOD like You, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of HIS inheritance  (people who are faithful and true to HIM.)?  YOU do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.  YOU will again have compassion on us; YOU will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.’

John 1:18  ‘No one has ever seen GOD, but the one and only Son, who is Himself GOD and is in closest relationship with the FATHER, has made HIM known.’

John 4:24  “GOD is spirit, and HIS worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

1 Corinthians 1:20   ‘Where is the wise man?  Where is the scholar?  Where is the philosopher of this age?  Has not GOD made foolish the wisdom of the world?’

1 Corinthians 2:16  “For who has known the mind of the Lord that we may instruct Him?”  But we have the mind of Christ.’

1 Corinthians 3:19-20   ‘For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with GOD. For it is written: ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness,’ and again, ‘The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.’

Ephesians 3:20  ‘Now to HIM who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to HIS power that is at work within us, to HIM be glory in the church and in Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever.  Amen.’

Colossians 1:13-14  ‘GOD has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son HE loves, in whom we have redemption of sins.’

1 Timothy 1:17  ‘Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only GOD, be honour and glory for ever and ever, Amen.’

2 Timothy 2:19  ‘Nevertheless, GOD’s solid foundation (truth) stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord (and belongs to Him) must turn away from wickedness.”

Hebrews 4:12  ‘The Word of GOD is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.’

James 2:19  ‘You believe that there is one GOD.  Good!  Even the demons believe that, and shudder.’

2 Peter 1:2- 4  ‘Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of GOD and of Jesus Christ our Lord.

HIS divine power has given us everything we need for life and GOD-liness through our knowledge of HIM WHO called us by HIS own glory and goodness.  Through these HE has given us HIS very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.’

1 John 4:6  ‘We are from GOD, and whoever knows GOD listens to us; but whoever is not from GOD does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of falsehood.’

1 John 4:15-21  ‘If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of GOD, GOD lives in them and they in GOD. And so we know and rely on the love GOD has for us.  GOD is love.  Whoever lives in love lives in GOD, and GOD in them. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgement, because in this world we are like Him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  We love because HE first loved us.  If anyone says, “I love GOD,” yet hates their Christian brother / sister, whom they have not seen, cannot love GOD, whom they have not seen.  And HE has given us this command: Whoever loves GOD must also love their Christian brother / sister.’

GOD is love in its broadest sense, deepest  sense, strongest sense, and most meaningful sense.  HIS love is unconditional and unlimited.

GOD’s purposes.  GOD’s desire was and is to have everyone sharing HIS loving and merciful Fatherhood.  HE created mankind for perfect happiness and to be in relationship with HIM, and HE wants us all to have hearts filled with the peace of heaven, faith in HIS Word and promises, and also to be an earthly example of HIS perfect family in heaven.

GOD wants everyone to be surrounded by HIS loving, protective laws, everlasting principles of truth, justice, and purity; and for our obedience to these principles to be our protection from the destruction of sin.

Earthly wealth and possessions are only of any use while we are alive and healthy enough to use them, however they have zero bearing on our destiny after death. Some people say that they will live on through their children, but this is just hopeful thinking.  When a person is dead, all that remains are other peoples’ memories of them, and maybe some wealth and possessions for others to use, but the person is dead and totally unaware.  Jesus talks about the possibility of eternal life after the future resurrection.

GOD’s unlimited gift to mankind has no barriers, HIS unconditional (agape) love has opened the door for each person to be restored to HIS perfect, eternal kingdom.  If this does not lead people to repentance and draw them to GOD, then it is a sad situation, and we need to pray for them.

Jude 1:24-25  ‘To HIM WHO is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of HIS glory  with exceeding joy, to GOD our Saviour,  WHO alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion, and power, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before ages, both now and forevermore.  Amen.’

Revelation 1:8  “I am the Alpha and Omega,” says the Lord GOD, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:17-18  ‘When I saw Him I fell at His feet as though dead.  Then He placed His right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid, I am the First and the Last.  I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever.  And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”

Revelation 4:8b  “… Holy, holy, holy is the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY,  WHO was, and is, and is to come.”

Revelation 21:6  ‘He said  “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.”

Revelation 22:12-13  “Behold,  I am coming soon.  My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what they have done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and  the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

Revelation 22:13  “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

Scripture confirms that GOD consistently moves from judgement to forgiveness, from punishment to grace, and from seeing suffering -- to offering hope.

Napoleon, after being defeated in The Battle of Waterloo, said,  “GOD Almighty is too much for me.”

GOD is all we need, GOD is all that really matters, GOD is the greatest of anything available to humanity.  Everything else is trivia in comparison.  In GOD we have a magnificent hope and a magnificent future which is beyond description.

‘Goodbye’ came from the original farewell greeting:  ‘GOD be with you.’
