Mediums
Seek the Truth with all your heart.
(Astrologers, fortune tellers, etc.) GOD forbids all such searching, belief, and superstition.
All these scriptures indicate GOD’s instructions for HIS people not to consult astrologers, fortune tellers and other mediums. Some of these scriptures are more obvious than others but the same instruction is paramount. GOD does not want to spoil your enjoyment in these things, HE wants you to NOT rely on such methods, but to look to and rely on HIM in prayer, and to safeguard you from being drawn into evil influences.
Turn to GOD not to human mediums whose sources are not HIM. Have faith in GOD, not in human mediums. We must have one hundred percent faith in GOD.
Exodus 22:18 ‘Do not allow a sorceress to live.’
Leviticus 19:31 ‘Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them, I am the LORD your GOD.’
Leviticus 20:6 ‘I (GOD) will set MY face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute themselves by following them, and I will cut them off from their people.
Leviticus 20:27 “A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.”
Being put to death is not the case today; but this shows how offensive to GOD it was and still is.
Deuteronomy 18:10-13 ‘Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your GOD will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your GOD.’
1 Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, HE has rejected you as king.’
2 Kings 9:22. 21:3-7. 23:5
2 Chronicles 33:5-7 ‘In both courts of the temple of the LORD , he built altars to all the starry hosts. He sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking HIM to anger.
He took the carved image he had made and put it in GOD’S temple, of which GOD had said to David and to his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever.’
Micah 5:12-14 ‘I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.
I will destroy your carved images and your sacred stones from among you; you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.
I will uproot from among you your Asherah poles and demolish your cities.’
Nahum 3:4-6 ‘…all because of the wanton lust of a harlot, alluring, the mistress of sorceries, who enslaved nations by her prostitution and peoples by her witchcraft.
“I am against you,” declares the LORD ALMIGHTY. “I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show the nations your nakedness and the kingdoms you shame. I will pelt you with filth, I will treat you with contempt and make you a spectacle.”
Acts 16:16-19 ‘Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High GOD, who are telling you the way to be saved.” She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the Name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her.” At that moment the spirit left her.
When the owners of the slave girl realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the market place to face the authorities.’
Acts 17:24-25 ‘The GOD WHO made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and Earth and does not live in temples built by human hands, as if HE needed anything, because HE Himself gives all people life and breath and everything else.’
Isaiah 8:19-20 ‘When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their GOD? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? Consult GOD’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.’
Jeremiah 27:9-10 ‘So do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your interpreters of dreams, your mediums or your sorcerers who tell you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon.’ They prophesy lies to you that will only serve to remove you far from your lands; I will banish you and you will perish.’
Jeremiah 7:16-19 “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with ME, for I will not listen to you. Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other ‘gods’ to provoke ME to anger. But am I the ONE they are provoking? declares the LORD. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?”
Jeremiah 44:15-25 ‘Then all the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other ‘gods,’ along with all the women who were present; a large assembly; and all the people living in Lower and Upper Egypt, said to Jeremiah, “We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the Name of the LORD. We will certainly do everything we said would. We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our fathers, our kings, and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food and were well off and suffered no harm. But ever since we stopped burning incense to the ‘Queen of Heaven’ and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have had nothing and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
The women added, “When we burned incense to the ‘Queen of Heaven’ and poured out drink offerings to her, did not our husbands know that we were making cakes like her image and pouring out drink offerings to her?”
Then Jeremiah said to all the people, both men and women, who were answering him, “Did not the LORD remember and think about the incense burned in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem by you and your fathers, your kings, and your officials and the people of the land.? When the LORD could no longer endure your wicked actions and the detestable things you did, your land became an object of cursing and a desolate waste without inhabitants, as it is today. Because you have burned incense and have sinned against the LORD and have not obeyed HIM or followed HIS law or HS decrees or HIS stipulations, this disaster has come upon you, as you now see.”
Then Jeremiah said to all people, including the women, “Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah in Egypt. This is what the LORD Almighty, the GOD Almighty, the GOD of Israel, says: You and your wives have shown by your actions what you promised when you said, ‘We will certainly carry out the vows we made to burn out the vows we made to burn incense and pour out drink offerings to the ‘Queen of Heaven.’
Go ahead then, do what you promised. Keep your vows!”
Some people have to learn the hard way as to whose word stands; GOD’s or theirs.
Galatians 5:19-21 ‘The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of GOD.’
Ephesians 5:11-17 ‘Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed to the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
Be very careful, then, how you live; not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the LORD’s will is.’
Colossians 2:8 ‘See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.’
Superstition
Superstition can only have effective power over you, and be of any influence, if you believe it has and can. It is only an empty belief, and standing on its own, a superstition is only a powerless theory, it requires your belief system to activate it. Doing so is contradicting GOD-given wisdom.
So don’t give it power and authority to work in your life. Believe in GOD our Creator, not in human prediction and theory.
We are warned that spiritualism and the occult will increase substantially as we near the end of time and the close of probation.
Many are investigating Spiritualism out of curiosity. They have no real faith in it, and are not interested in becoming mediums; but they are venturing on forbidden and dangerous ground, risking being caught in the toils of the deceiver, and finding they are in the power of Satan who makes the most abject slaves of his servants. The power of GOD alone can deliver them. Our only safety is in trusting implicitly and following faithfully the instruction of GOD’s Word. The Bible is the only path that marks out the narrow path which avoids the pitfalls of destruction.
