Life or Death is your choice

Please also see:   ‘Eternal Life.’

Seek the Truth with all your heart.

Each person is free to choose either the ways of the world, which lead to eternal death OR the ways of GOD, by genuine loving relationship through Jesus, which lead to eternal life.

As I have said elsewhere, only perfection can enter heaven, and it is impossible for any human to be perfect, so the only way is for GOD to see us through Jesus – if we have made Jesus the Lord of our life.

Jesus as Himself - Man and GOD - was the only perfect human on Earth.

This life is a temporary existence in a world full of problems.  GOD through Jesus, has redeemed us from this empty way of life which we inherited from our ancestors, and which we try, in many ways, to fill with meaning to overcome its countless compromises.

Real life is eternal life in GOD’s kingdom of total, unimaginable, perfection.

The transition from this mortal body into our immortal, perfect, body, for eternity, will take place at the resurrection which Jesus will fulfil – carry out - on His return to take GOD’s children on Earth, home to Heaven.

The Earth will be left desolate until GOD creates a new heaven and a new Earth and makes it worthy of the habitation of HIS family, which will be ruled over by HIM and Jesus, together with some of us.

Please do not allow yourself to be in the position of arriving near the end of your life, looking back, and asking yourself:  “What was that all about; and what now?”

Please give your life meaning and purpose by learning about Biblical scripture – from GOD’s instruction book, the Bible which is far from being boring.  At the same time start growing a meaningful, beautifully real, personal relationship with GOD; if you truly want eternal life.

You can find meaning when you search for a greater purpose.  If you have eyes of faith, you can find small joys every day.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20  ‘See I set before you today life and prosperity, death, and destruction.  For I command you to love the LORD your GOD, to walk in HIS ways, and to keep HIS commands, decrees, and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your GOD will bless you in the land you are entering to  possess.

But if you heart turns away and you are disobedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed.  You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you, life and death, blessings, and curses.  Now choose life, so that you and your children may live (forever), and that you may love the LORD your GOD, listen to HIS voice, and hold fast to HIM.  For the LORD is your life, and HE will give you many years in the land HE swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’

GOD spoke this to the Israelites (HIS children,) when they were in the desert, after HE had miraculously brought them out of Egypt, where they had been slaves for approximately 400 years.  HE had enabled Moses to part a way through the Red Sea.  Now GOD was instructing them in correct behaviour and attitude before they eventually crossed the Jordan River to Israel, the promised land; which they were to inherit.  This represents our path in this world and the option of eternal life.

Psalm 39:4-6  ‘Show me, LORD, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is.

YOU have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before YOU.  Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.

Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be.’

Matthew 7:13-14  Jesus said: “Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction (eternal death,) and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life (eternal), and only a few find it.’

The ‘narrow gate’ is for those who have made Jesus The Lord of their life, and through Him, a close relationship with GOD.  Such a person is then eligible for the resurrection to eternal life of unimaginable magnificence in every conceivable way.

‘Few’ does not preclude anyone from being one of the few.

Mark 8:35-37  ‘Jesus said: “Whoever wants to save their life, will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me and for the gospel will save it.  What good is it for a person to gain the whole world, yet  forfeit their soul.  Or what can a person give in exchange for their life.?” Meaning it is impossible to purchase eternal life; only GOD can grant it.

John 12:25  ‘Those who love their life will lose it, while those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternity.’

This is saying that we need to focus on what GOD has in store for those who love Him, and to put His promises before all earthly values.  Eternal life will not be in our present body, but in a GOD given new, magnificent, perfect body.  So our focus should be beyond this temporary existence, to what GOD has in store for HIS children.  Therefore we should never compromise our relationship with GOD just to have a few more years of this existence. This is temporary, the other is eternally permanent.

John 15:5-6  “I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a person remains in Me and I in them, they will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, they are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

Romans 5:17  ‘For if by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man (Adam,)  how much more will those who receive GOD’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness,  reign in life through the one Man, Jesus Christ.’

2 Corinthians 4:13 – 5:10  ‘It is written: “I believe; therefore I have spoken.”  Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the ONE WHO raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to HIMSELF.  All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of GOD.

Therefore we do not lose heart.  Hough outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

For we know that if the Earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from GOD, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.  Meanwhile we groan , longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.  For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.  Now the ONE WHO has fashioned us for this very purpose is GOD, WHO has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.  For we live by faith, not by sight.  We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.  So we make iy our goal to please HIM, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.  For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.’

Revelation 14:13  ‘Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”

“Yes,” says the Spirit, “They will rest from their labour, for their deeds will follow them.”

As I have said elsewhere, the automatic – default - setting on this world is hell. All of humanity is destined to die, and it is impossible for any human being to earn their own way to heaven and eternal life.  It does not matter how ‘good’ – how well behaved we think we are - only GOD, through Jesus, could die on our behalf, paying our humanly unavoidable penalty.  Following this, He then defeated death; and now through our relationship with Jesus - and making Him Lord of our life, we become inheritors of eternal life and the most amazing privileges, which in reality are unimaginably magnificent.

There are many scriptures pertaining to this; some obvious, many are not, unless the Holy Spirit gives the reader illumination and understanding.

Choose life through Jesus.
