Peace

Seek the Truth with all your heart.

The true Peace of GOD is beyond human understanding.

The most complete form of peace we can know on earth is encapsulated in the Hebrew word for peace -  https://staticapp.icpsc.com/icp/loadimage.php/mogile/261268/f81f463f97c2ac6dc6156705b21a5437/image/jpeg - which is ‘Shalom.’  (sholom, sholem, sholoim, shulem.)

It has a much fuller meaning than the English word ‘peace.’ Shalom means nothing missing, nothing broken, a life that is good, and satisfying in every way, peace, completeness, wholeness, prosperity, welfare, well-being, and safety.

Our use of the word peace usually means a lot less than this.

Shalom can also be used as a greeting to say both ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye.’

Numbers 6:26 ‘The LORD lift up HIS countenance upon you, and give you peace.’

Job 22:21  ‘Submit to GOD and be at peace with HIM; in this way prosperity will come to you.’

Psalm 46:10a  “Be still and know that I am GOD.”

Cares drain you of rest and peace.

Stillness is at the heart - the centre - the eye of the storm.

It is in stillness that we can encounter GOD’s peace, HE is at the centre of everything, even if there is chaos surrounding.  Everything has a central point, including the wildest storm, cyclone, tornado, or hurricane; a place of perfect stillness, and so it is with any tempestuous situation you find yourself in.  You do not need to frantically search for a place to get away from it, just go within and rest in your own centre of stillness, and just be at peace.  The absolute central point is motionless; and there you can find GOD.

Don’t be thrown around by the waves on the surface of the ocean, go into the deep part where there is calm, and there you can find GOD.

This does not stop the storm around you, it is a place where you can be, despite what is happening around you.   Give everything to GOD and rest in HIM.

Psalm 29:11  ‘The LORD gives strength to HIS people, the LORD blesses HIS people with peace.’

Psalm 85:10-11  ‘Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.  Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.’

Psalm 119:165  ‘Great peace have those who love YOUR law, and nothing causes them to stumble.’

Proverbs 14:30  ‘A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.’

Isaiah 9:6  ‘For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders, and He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty GOD, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.’

Isaiah 26:3-4  ‘YOU (GOD) will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in YOU.  Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD HIMSELF, is the ROCK eternal.

Isaiah 57:21  ‘”There is no peace,” says my GOD, “for the wicked.”

Matthew 5:9  “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of GOD.”

John 14:27  ‘Jesus said  “Peace I leave with you;  My peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

GOD can bring you Peace about your past - Purpose to your present  - and Hope about your future.

John 16:33  Jesus said: “I have told you these things, so that in ME you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart I have overcome the world.”

John 20:19-23  ‘On the evening of the first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”  After He said this, He showed them His hands and side.  The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.  Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you.  As the FATHER has sent Me, I am sending you.”  And with that He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.  If you forgive anyone their sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

Romans 5:1-2  ‘Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with GOD through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.  And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of GOD.’ (Which leads to eternal life in unimaginable perfection.)

GOD-ly peacemakers will experience persecution in the World, because Satan and his demonic angels and agents are always working to make life difficult for GOD’s people.

Matthew 5:10  Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Romans 12:18   ‘If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.’

Romans 14:19  ‘Let us  therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.’

Romans 15:13  ‘May the GOD of hope fill you with joy and peace as you trust in HIM, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’

1 Corinthians 14:33  ‘For GOD is not a GOD of disorder but of peace.’

Colossians 3:15-17  ‘Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.  And be thankful.  Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to GOD with gratitude in your hearts.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to GOD the FATHER through Him.’

Philippians 4:4-9  Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice.  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not worry or be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition (asking GOD for your needs), with thanksgiving, present your requests to GOD.  And the peace of GOD which transcends (exceeds) all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice.  And the GOD of peace will be with you.’

2 Thessalonians 3:16 & 18  ‘Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way.  The Lord be with all of you.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.’

1 Peter 5:7  ‘Cast all your anxiety on HIM because HE cares for you.’

GOD-ly Peace-makers are not always Peace-keepers  – unfortunately.

(One of my experiences of having peace about something.

On the night of the 19th June, 2016, I had been thinking about selling my antique furniture, and wondering which items I should keep; before moving to Queensland.  The very instant that I awoke in the morning, the crystal clear words in my head were:

“Jesus is everything, possessions are nothing.” It was as if GOD had spoken them to me at that very moment, or that during the night HE had put the words in my head so that they were the first thing I was conscious of at the instant of waking.

I was immediately relieved of doubt and questioning, and in an instant my thoughts were crystalized, and I decided immediately, without hesitation, to sell them, as well as some other things I had become attached to.

I had absolute peace in having this confirmation from GOD; together with a feeling of being unburdened and free.)
