Sin Free Living
Seek the Truth with all your heart.
Psalm 86:11-13 ‘Teach me YOUR way, O LORD, and I will walk in YOUR truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear YOUR NAME.
I will praise YOU, O LORD my GOD, with all my heart; I will glorify YOUR NAME forever. For great is YOUR love toward me; YOU have delivered me from the depths of the grave.’
Psalm 103:8-13 ‘The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. HE will not always accuse, nor will HE harbour HIS anger forever; HE does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the Earth, so great is HIS love for those who fear HIM; as far as the east is from the west, so far has HE removed our transgressions from us.’
Psalm 119:55-60 ‘In the night I remember YOUR Name O LORD, and I will keep YOUR law. This has been my practice: I obey YOUR precepts.
YOU are my portion, O LORD; I have promised to obey YOUR words. I have sought YOUR face with al my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to YOUR statutes.
I will hasten and not delay to obey YOUR commands.’
Isaiah 43:25 “I, even I, am HE WHO blots out your transgressions, for MY OWN sake, and remembers your sins no more.”
Romans 6:5-8 ‘If we have united with Him like this in His death (meaning that our sins were cancelled out =died,) we shall certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we no longer be slaves to sin; because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ; we believe that we shall also live with Him.’
Romans 6:11-18 ‘In the same way, count yourselves dead (= separated from) to sin but alive to GOD in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to GOD as those who have been brought from death to life, and offer every part of yourself to HIM as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means. Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey; whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
But thanks be to GOD that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.’
Slave, in this sense, is a good state of having new values and new priorities, and being completely committed to obedience, and absolutely not wanting to sin.
All who have been spiritually born again are now saved by GOD’s grace, we are no longer sinners, we became sin free.
Philippians 2:13 ‘For it is GOD Who works in you to will and to act according to HIS good purpose.’
Galatians 6:9 ‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.’
1 John 3:7-10 ‘Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. Whoever does what is right is righteous, just as He (Jesus) is righteous. Whoever does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of GOD appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of GOD will continue to sin, because they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of GOD. This is how we know who the children of GOD are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of GOD; nor is anyone who does not love their brother.’
1 John 5:18-20 ‘We know that anyone born of GOD does not continue to sin; the One who was born of GOD keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. We know that we are children of GOD, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We also know that the Son of GOD has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know HIM Who is true. And we are in HIM Who is true; even in HIS Son Jesus Christ. He is the true GOD and eternal life.’
Born again people, who have new hearts and new minds, become people who naturally turn away from sinful ways; they want to please GOD and be obedient to HIM in everything.
Being so called ‘sin free’ does not mean that one is perfect, it just means ‘sin free.’ To be truly sin free would be impossible in the strictest sense, because many little things which one might not think of as sin; such as a fleeting wrong inclination, reaction, or minor thought or action, can still be sinful. Jesus has paid our guilty penalty in GOD’s eyes, as long as we hold on, with integrity, to our relationship with Him.
There is no sinful temptation in the world, irrespective of what it might be, that is worth turning away from Jesus and GOD for. There is no comparison, because sin is very temporary, and Jesus and GOD and eternal life are never ending.
Hebrews 8:12 ‘For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.’
That is our GOD of love.
