Sunday keeping -​​ worship​​ -​​ originated as a compromise between Mithraism and Christianity, instituted by the pagan emperor Constantine in 321 AD who decreed that Sunday be a day of rest honouring the god Mithras the Unconquered Sun.​​ ​​ Mithraism was a Roman cult.​​ Excavations at St. Peter’s in Rome, uncovered a mosaic of Christ as the ‘Unconquered Sun.’ ​​ The old Babylonian sun god was named Shamash; in Roman times he was known by his Persian name Mithra. ​​ The cult of Mithraism grew in prominence in the Roman Empire around the time of Christ.

All heathen religions, including Paganism, have sun worship in common, which​​ originated in Babylon.

Keeping Sunday as a type of Sabbath, is, by default, unconsciously honouring the pagan worship of the sun.

Deuteronomy 4:19 ​​​​ ‘When you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars; all the heavenly array; do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshipping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.’

Ezekiel 8:16-18 ​​​​ ‘He​​ (an angel of GOD,) then brought me into the inner court of the entrance to the temple between the portico and the altar, were about twenty five men. ​​ With their backs toward the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun in the east.’

HE said to me, “Have you seen this, Son of man? ​​ Is it a trivial matter for the people of Judah to do the detestable things they are doing here? ​​ Must they also fill the land with violence and continually arouse MY anger? ​​ Look at them putting the branch​​ to their nose!​​ Therefore I will deal with them in anger;​​ I will not look on them with pity or spare them. Although they shout in My ears, I will not listen to them.’​​ 

John 4:24 ​​ “GOD​​ is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Romans 1:25 ​​ ‘They​​ exchanged the truth of GOD​​ for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than The Creator, who is forever praised.  ​​​​ Amen.’

We are not to worship anything​​ or anyone​​ except GOD HIMSELF.
