Purpose

Please also see:  ‘Salvation.’

Seek the Truth with all your heart.

We all need a purpose, and usually spend a lot of our life wondering what our true purpose really is.  Even if we don’t consciously think about it; the lack of purpose, or not knowing our purpose, remains an unfilled hollow hovering in the background of our heart and mind.  Seeking GOD for answers can reveal what we hunger to know, and fill the hollow.

GOD has put a dream inside you.  It’s yours and no one else’s, it declares your uniqueness, it holds your potential, and only you can bring it into reality.  GOD has given you the duty and responsibility to fulfil it; but don’t forget to pray for HIS help.  By all means listen to good advice, but do not be put off or discouraged by people who merely discourage and criticize.  Stick to your dream, your inclination, and GOD given direction.  Ask HIM to help reveal and clarify to you, your passion - talent - gifting.

Think of yourself in a way similar to a rubber band, which, irrespective of size, has its own natural resting shape, your comfort zone.  However its purpose is to perform - fulfill - a function, and that requires it to be stretched, but only to its functional limit.

That is how you could see yourself; however, if you truly put your faith and trust in GOD, HE can enable you to go - perform - beyond your natural limits.

It is a wonderful thing to recognize one’s purpose in life, to realize that GOD has placed each one of us here on Earth at a particular time, in a particular place, to fulfil HIS will, and be part of a plan - larger than ourselves - to accomplish HIS purposes.   We have been born to accomplish the purpose of GOD in the very place where we live.  Our lives are not cosmic accidents, or the results of random chance.  The greatest joy is to know GOD and discover HIS purpose for our lives.  HIS purpose is always far more amazing than anything we can imagine.

If you have committed your life to GOD, ask HIM to reveal HIS purpose for you.

If you read the book of Esther in the Bible, and can appreciate the circumstances that GOD used to deliver the Jews, you can also ask yourself, as Mordecai asked Esther, as to what great purpose GOD may have brought you to your present place, circumstance, and position in life.

Psalm 145:18-19  ‘The LORD is near to all who call on HIM, to all who call on HIM in truth.  HE fulfills the desires of those who fear HIM; HE hears their cry and saves them.’

Proverbs 19:21  ‘Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.’

Isaiah 55:6-9  ‘Seek the LORD while HE may be found; call on HIM while HE is near.  Let the wicked forsake their ways and the evil person their thoughts.  Let them turn to the LORD, and HE will have mercy on them, and to our GOD, for HE will freely pardon.  “For MY thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways MY ways,” declares the LORD.  “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are MY ways higher than your ways and MY thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

Jeremiah 29:11-13  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon ME, and I will listen to you.  You will seek ME and find ME when you seek ME with all your heart.”

Micah 6:8  ‘HE (GOD) has showed you, O people, what is good.  And what does the LORD require of you?  To act justly and to have mercy and to walk humbly with your GOD.’

Acts 20:24  ‘However I consider my life worth nothing to me, my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord has given me; the task of testifying to the gospel of GOD’s grace.’

Romans 8:28-30  ‘And we know that  in all things GOD works for the good of those who love HIM, who have been called according to HIS purpose.  For those GOD foreknew HE also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of HIS Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.  And those HE predestined, HE also called, those HE called, HE also justified; those HE justified, HE also glorified.’

Ephesians 1:4-8  ‘For HE chose us in HIM before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in HIS sight.  In love HE predestined us to be adopted as HIS sons (children) through Jesus Christ, in accordance with HIS pleasure and will, to the praise of HIS glorious grace, which HE has freely given us in the One HE loves.  In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of GOD’S grace that HE lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.’

Ephesians 2:10  ‘For we are GOD’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which GOD prepared in advance for us to do.’

1 Peter 4:10  ‘Each one should use whatever gift they have received to serve others, faithfully administering GOD’s grace in its various forms.’

1 John 4:4  ‘You, dear children, are from GOD and have overcome them  (the false and evil spirits) because the ONE  (GOD)  who is in you is greater than the one (Satan and his demons) who is (are) in the world.’

You can find meaning when you search for a greater purpose.  If you have eyes of faith, you can find small joys every day.
