Humility – Humbleness
Seek the Truth with all your heart.
Jesus was born on earth to open the door to eternal life for everyone who chooses Him as Lord of their life; and His life on earth was lived with humility.
Matthew 5:3-11 Jesus said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see GOD. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of GOD. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.”
Meekness (gentleness,) lowliness, and a willingness to serve, are the keys to greatness. Meek = humble and obedient.
Throw inflated ego and puffed up pride out the window. Have a loving heart for everyone, without lording any attitude over anyone. Every human being in the world is your fellow neighbour. Terrorists have had love and compassion stolen from them, and have ended up with extremely distorted values. Those who reject this will eventually find out, with a huge shock, what the truth is.
Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. Stay humble and seek to exalt only the LORD.
Proverbs 11:2 ‘When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.’
Matthew 18:3-4 Jesus said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles themselves like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 20:27-28 “Whoever wants to be first must be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Matthew 23:11-12 & Luke :14:11 & 18:14b Jesus said:
“The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts themselves will be humbled, and whoever humbles themselves will be exalted.’
Luke 9:48b “For whoever is least among you all; they are the greatest.”
Luke 18:13-14 ‘But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, “GOD, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before GOD. For everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and whoever humbles themselves will be exalted.’
Ephesians 4:2-3 ‘Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.’
James 4:6-10 ‘But HE (GOD) gives us more grace. That is why the scripture says:
“GOD opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Submit yourselves, then, to GOD. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to GOD and HE will come near to you. Wash you hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn, and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the LORD, and HE will lift you up.’
1Peter 5:5-7 ‘Likewise you younger people submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for: “GOD resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves therefore, under GOD’S mighty hand, that HE may lift you up in due time. Cast all your cares on HIM because HE cares for you.’
