Heart of each Person

Seek the Truth with all your heart.

When GOD looks at human beings HE sees each person’s heart; meaning HE sees what is in your heart.

HE, of course, sees the whole of us, but HE especially sees our mind and what is going on in it. Our mind can be an ever changing panorama of thoughts and knowledge, whereas our heart and matters of the heart represent more so the essence of our values and who we are.  Our heart reveals extra dimensions of depth showing our true nature, character, and evidence of things which our words and facial expressions may not reveal.

We often use phrases such as:  ‘A change of heart,’  ‘Heartfelt feeling,’  ‘What is in your heart,’  ‘I love you with all my heart,’  and  ‘Which direction is your heart leading you.?’ Matters of your heart are deeper than conscious thought.

Research has revealed that our hearts contain (are encoded with) a type of record of our deeper qualities.

Matters and values of the heart are involuntary and sub-conscious, therefore they reveal a true and honest picture of who we really are.

Research of the donors and recipients of heart transplants have revealed perfectly clearly that the recipients, in the majority of cases, take on aspects of the nature, character, personality, behavioural patterns, abilities, and talents of the donor.   This may seem  far-fetched to some, but it is factually so.

The heart has qualities and characteristics that are not yet fully understood by the medical and scientific communities, who in most cases do not know, recognize, or accept such dimensions.  The human heart is far more than a pump to ensure blood circulation.

The Bible often refers to heart and mind.

Psalm 40:8  ‘I desire to do YOUR will my GOD; YOUR law is within my heart.

Psalm 51:10-12  ‘Create in me a pure heart, O GOD, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  Do not cast me from YOUR presence or take YOUR Holy Spirit from me.  Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.’

Psalm 139:23-24  ‘Search me, O GOD, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.’

Proverbs 4:23  ‘Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.’

Proverbs 16:9  ‘In their heart a person plans their course, but the LORD determines their steps.’

Matthew 12:33-35  Jesus said:  “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.  Brood of vipers.!  How can you, being evil, speak good things.?  For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  A good person out of the good treasure of their heart brings forth good things, and an evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”

Matthew 15:18-19  Jesus said: “But those things which proceed out of the mouth, come from the heart, and they defile a person.  For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.”

Luke 6:45  ‘The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil person brings evil things out of the evil stored up in their heart.  For out of the overflow of their heart their mouth speaks.’

2 Corinthians 3:2-3  ‘You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody.  You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living GOD, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.’

2 Corinthians 3:6  ‘HE has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant; not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.’

This is pointing out that the ‘letter,’ meaning the written Word; while it contains truth, is only words which lead to lifeless knowledge;  whereas The Holy Spirit illuminates the Word, imparting life-filled revelation and understanding, which engages the heart as well as the mind.
