Hearing from GOD.
Seek the Truth with all your heart.
Isaiah 30:21-22 ‘Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Every time you read the Bible you are giving GOD a chance to speak to you. A verse will jump out to you as just the answer you have been seeking, even though you may have read it many times before. It might even seem quite new to you as though you have never seen it before. GOD is showing you something new, a new aspect, and you receive a revelation from it that has never been apparent in the past. This is true of the Bible, GOD seems to release deeper, clearer, more meaningful, and even altogether new aspects of it; each time you read it.
It is as if we are blind to a verse or passage until the right time arrives for us to benefit from it; or a new aspect of it provides the very answer we need at that moment.
Regular prayer = speaking to GOD, can also be a chance for GOD to speak to you.
Prayer does not need to be all religious, it can be a conversation with GOD in any situation such as walking in nature, or on a busy street, or driving, or lying in bed. GOD is always available.
1 Corinthians 2:4-16 ‘My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on GOD’s power.
We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare GOD’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that GOD destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human has conceived” the things GOD has prepared for those who love HIM -
- these are the things GOD has revealed to us by HIS Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of GOD. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of GOD except the Spirit of GOD. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from GOD, so that we may understand what GOD has freely given us. This id what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of GOD but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgements about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgements, for “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct HIM?”
But we have the mind of Christ.’
The Holy Spirit will speak to us in this way, which is called the Rama voice of GOD. Logos is the written Word of GOD.
It can be a still small voice in your heart. Even if your own reasoning seems to give you an answer, but you still have a different urging in your heart, go with the urging it will be the right answer. If you do not have peace about something, it is not the right answer or direction. Peace is one of the most important factors. Many people have made wrong decisions by ignoring their ‘sixth sense’ urging. So often GOD has gently given the right answer which is overlooked because people think they have to do their own reasoning.
Colossians 3:15 ‘Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.’
John 14:25-27 “All this I have spoken to you while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the FATHER will send in My Name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
When you are born again you have spiritual eyes and ears, and these will be your navigators.
GOD’s voice is loving; it never shouts or intrudes rudely, HE does not want to intimidate. The devil brings fear and condemnation; GOD’s gentle voice is the sweetest voice you will ever hear. Jesus speaks with words that you will understand.
1 Kings 19:11-18 ‘The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountain apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here Elijah?”
He replied, “I have been very zealous for the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”
The LORD said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu. Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel – all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.”
GOD’s words will always agree with scripture, and HIS Truth and principles, they will never contradict HIS ways.
GOD also speaks to us or shows us in dreams or visions, because they bypass our conscious mind and our own thoughts which are getting in the way.
Unbelief in GOD will block any word from HIM. Belief and Faith are essential to hearing from GOD.
GOD is not obligated to chase us to talk with us, we are obligated to slow down and wait for, and listen to HIM. When you truly turn to GOD and give him your time, HE will talk to you. The problem is not that GOD no longer speaks to us; it’s that we don’t recognize HIS voice. Don’t quickly dismiss the random thoughts that cross your mind. Generally speaking, GOD won’t send a thunderbolt from heaven to get your attention. More often HE speaks through your thoughts, or – a family member – a friend - a teacher – a pastor – a change in your circumstances – the sudden discovery of the perfect Scripture – something you read - or in the quietness when HE fills your heart with perfect peace. So learn to be sensitive to GOD’s voice, which can arrive in many ways.
Proverbs 11:14 ‘For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.’
This is saying that at times we need to listen to voices around us that might be providing the answer. GOD can use many avenues.
Hebrews 3:15 ‘As has just been said: “Today, if you hear HIS voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
Revelation 3:7-8 ‘To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of HIM WHO is holy and true, WHO holds the key of David. What HE opens no one can shut, and what HE shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept MY WORD and have not denied MY NAME.’
On the night of the 19th June, 2016, I had been thinking about selling my antique furniture, and wondering which items I should keep; before moving to Queensland. The very instant I awoke in the morning, the crystal clear words in my head were:
“Jesus is everything, possessions are nothing.”
It was as if GOD had spoken them to me at that very moment, or that during the night HE had put the words in my head so that they were the first thing I was conscious of at the instant of waking.
I was immediately relieved of doubt and questioning, and in an instant my thoughts were crystalized, and I decided, without hesitation, to sell them, as well as some other things I had become attached to. I had absolute peace in having this confirmation from GOD; together with a feeling of being unburdened and free.
